What do they do?

 Teerstra
  •  conduct monthly inspections
  • at least two per term
  • attend safety captain meeting
  • midterm meeting with Graham or Teerstra
  • Sign off on coops, or other documentation
  • Review and Maintain the MSDS and Team Safety Manual
  • Point of contact for team, and SDC director of safety
  • Review purchases for potential hazards (resins, expanding foam, etc)

Midterm review sheetTeerstra
  • half hour meeting with Teerstra, and Graham
  • review teams safety documents (this includes coop documents, Safety Manual, no member registry, SOP, MSDS Binder
  • Safety Manual needs contact info, Hazards analysis, regular updates
  • SOP needs to be available for tools and vehicle (MSXII)
  • MSDS needs categorized index
  • Monthly inspections with other team captains

Monthly ChecklstTeerstra
  • need at least two per term, one before midterm review
  • needs to be done with another safety captain
  • if unsure about items, make note to review during midterm review
  • big ones are isles being cluttered, benches need to be clean, missing SOP for equipment, electrical cables on the floor, improper chemical storage, equipment needs to be CSA approved

  • Teerstra will pay for safety equipment, PPE as well as fire extinguishers, and high voltage electrical safety equipment
