Question 1: It is difficult to design lights without numerical figures. How would you recommend designing lights without access to reference lights (especially when considering quarantine restrictions)?

  • Maybe have another team get you measurements and do testing from the

  • some staff is down in Missouri have reference lights if need testing

  • lots of teams dont have the lights go all degrees → just straight on

  •

Question 2: What are some of the key characteristics of the LED and placement that should be looked into when deciding on heat dissipation methods for lighting, excluding onsite testing which is inaccessible at the moment?

  • understand offaxis performance → led should indicate offaxis performance

  • if they lose significant off access brightness can fail

  • dont go for directonal brightness LEDs

  • location for mount with the angle pointing more up than back means that they cannot really see behind

  • do not have lights direct towards the leds

  • covering over the lights should be clear and not block lighting

  •

Question 3: What is the most common reason for failure when testing lights during scrutineering?

  • see above

  • check lights in sunlight

  • need to se in all conditions

  • blocking visibility through mounting

  • like maybe the window can block the LEDs

Question 4: What kind of testing would you suggest in addition to comparing with the reference light to fully characterize it’s ability in different environments?

  • sunlight conditions

Question 5 (time permitting): How would you recommend going about developing an individually addressable LED array?

  • not in electrical

  • each sequence led has to be bright enough to pass the test

  • (ex. 3 lights to meet a standard)

  • would it work if the entire strip was on in the end and it is as bright at the end?

    • no - each light would be independantly tested

Other:

  • mounting of the horn to get sound out of the vehicle

  • sometimes they cant get out of the carbon fiber sheet

  • inspect the horn for if the sound gets out from the front and is sufficient enough
