Due to technical issues with manufacturing the bottom panel, it was no longer possible to manufacture a structural bottom panel. To accommodate for this change in design, additional tubes were added to the Chassis to support passenger weight. Tubes have been added underneath the seats of the driver and passengers. An additional semi-structural floor would be added on top of these tubes to provide more structural integrity.

Past Construction of Bottom Panel:

  • Carbon Fiber Layers

  • 1 inch nomex core

  • Carbon Fiber Layers

New Plan for Bottom Panel:

  • Semi-structural floor made out of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (likely 1/4 inch core)

  • 1 inch tubes

  • Carbon Fiber Layers

Chassis simulations had to be carried out to ensure that the new chassis re-design still passes vehicle collision scenarios. The following are the results for the simulations. Since the design features only the chassis being structural, only the beam tool was used in this stress analysis of the vehicle collisions. The minimum combined stress and the maximum combined stress.
