The Mechanical Team is a very large subteam comprised of sections including Dynamics, Aerobody, Chassis, and Battery Box. To give a general summary of each of the sections:
Dynamics is in charge of all things that move: suspension, steering and brakes. We work with the design, testing, and assembly of these systems with the rest of the car.
Aerobody is in charge of the exterior of the car. We design, test and manufacture the body panels of the car mainly using carbon fibre composites.
Chassis provides the strength needed for supporting the different vehicular components as well as the payload and helps to keep the car rigid and stiff to maximize safety and driving performance.
Battery Box is in charge of giving the car power to move. We assemble hundreds of lithium-ion battery cells into a battery pack that provides the necessary voltage and current for our motors.

Aidan Lehal - Mechanical Technical Manager
About MeHey all! My name is Aidan and I’m currently in my 2A term in Mechanical Engineering. I joined Midnight Sun after my 1A term and immediately fell in love with the culture, projects, and the team. Outside of the car team, I’m a huge advocate for living a balanced healthy lifestyle. I enjoy working out, cooking/eating right, stimulating my brain, and socializing!
