Sprint Goals
Get members accustomed to designing relevant components within the Aerobody and critiquing each other’s work
Making self-driven decisions throughout the entire process, starting from basic requirements + constraints, to selecting OTS components, all the way to sim validation.
This is very important as we anticipate to be designing with little direct supervision (i.e you can rely on leads so much; being able to think critically for ourselves is huge).
Getting comfortable with holding each other accountable to our own deadlines.
Documenting our progress and decisions.

Sprint Introduction
We are challenged with designing a full prototype Aerobody (main body and canopy) for a bullet style SOV, examples of this type of vehicle is pictured below. Dimensions and specifications are in the table below.

We DO NOT need to design around a full chassis, we are creating our Aerobody shape freely within the space of the maximum vehicle dimensions. However, in our design we should think about leaving space for a chassis and proper spacing for a driver. Any prototype and/or its features created within this design sprint can be potentially be used in building MSXV and possibly future vehicles!
Timeline
Note that independent reviews with leads and other members throughout this entire period are encouraged! You are not limited to just the scheduled reviews!!!
Phase 1 [March 1 - 8; ~2 weeks] - Review March 1st & March 8th @ 7:30PM EST
Phase 1 is all about getting some of the thoughts on how to solve the design, along with some of the key constraints/considerations to get ready for detailed design.
Conceptual Design: Sketches of design concepts, with labels and descriptions where needed to effectively communicate design ideas.
1st week: completed concept sketches and vehicle dimensions
2nd week: completed first CAD iteration within SolidWorks
Material Selection: Use past experiences and intuition to select materials for your Aerobody design (e.g. steel shouldn’t be used as the our Aerobody material because it’s too heavy based our power output constraints)
Phase 2 [March 15 - 22; ~2 weeks] - Review March 15th & March 22nd @ 7:30PM EST
Phase 2 gets into the nitty-gritty of the design. Does my design reduce flow separation and boundary layers? Is my coefficient of drag low enough? How are we going to make it? Is it cost effective? And plenty more questions. Hopefully by the end you have a fully designed prototype Aerobody that hits all the checkboxes.
