  • Carbon fiber testing for I shaped panels: Goal: to find the best way to reinforce the joint

  • Fastener pull through strength

  • Adhesive

    • DP-420 Black, honestly check if it even works

      • Get experimental values for the following material properties of the adhesive (in order of priority): Tensile Strength, Shear Strength

      • Ideally this would be done on Carbon Fibre substrates to get the most accurate values for our application

        • Potentially could use the test coupons from the resin infusion process - that way they can have dual use for us

    • if there is any other alternatives for cf to cf panels that would be nice

  • Shear out

    • see how much force it takes to completely shear/slightly damage out of the carbon fiber panel

  • In-Plane (Edgewise) Compressive Composite Failure Modes

    • Panel Shear Crimping

    • Face Wrinkling

    • Ideally this would be done on a test piece that has a hole for a bolted joint (in hand calculations it’s been assumed the test piece is only the diameter of the hole for the bolted joint)

      • Then can more accurately determine how much loading will cause those two failure modes to occur
