This page will outline the roles and responsibilities + action plan for the Winter '21 term!

Agenda

  • Figure out how people can maximize the amount of on-site work (take things home, go into bay, what they can accomplish)

  • Figure out all tasks that can be delegated + how can we make them so that those people can help the onsite team (creating BOMs, Digikey, test plans)

  • Role shifts / assignments --> onsite vs. offsite leads (onboarding), who needs support where (people take stuff done but end up blocked or can’t --> how to minimize that, how to achieve the mental state to push or ask for support) --> will people be more motivated if given more responsibilities?

Term Goals

Carryover from Fall

Winter Tasks

All onsite tasks:

  • Motor Sense Validation (Hall-effect issues)

    • Pending Tritium or Iowa State University

  • High voltage testing for mockup (FW & HW)

    • Waiting for Motor Setup

  • Cell balancing + BMS Testing

    • Requires FW & HW

  • Assemble final versions of most boards (excl. AFE, DCDC, Charger interface, MCI) (January)

    • HW validation for new versions

    • Notes:

      • Aashmika has the reflow at home to assemble most boards

      • if lockdown happens, this can still be done at Aashmika’s house.

    • Unit test boards once they return

      • if designs are flawed, board needs to be resent (at any stage)

  • Integrate into mockup (February) - must be onsite

    • Displays

    • Horn

    • Cameras

    • Telemetry Router

  • Mockup Testing (February - April)

    • Solar

    • BMS Full (Pending Battery pack, and other testing)

    • MCI, Limit testing for Motors (includes carryover from F2020)

    • Full Mockup Integration (w/ displays)

    • Worst case: bleed into Spring

  • Complete all harnessing/make diagram for full vehicle (near EOT)

    • Includes layout

    • Note: this is offsite, if lockdown, will move this task to Jan

  • Enclosures

  • Finalize Enclosures Layout
    (to plan for post W2021)

Spring Term

  • Assembling Final Versions of Boards

  • Complete all board mounts

  • Complete all harnesses

  • Complete all enclosures

  • Assemble all items

Core Team

Name (Term)

Responsibilities

On-Site Capacity

Aashmika (Co-op)

• Assembly of final versions of boards
• Integration into mockup
• ASC VDR

• Remote (Toronto)
• Available on most weekends
• Can possibly take some boards home to work on, during the week

Micah
(Co-op)

• Motor sense validation
• HV testing for mockup
• Enclosures + enclosure layouts

• On Site

James L (School)

• Assembly of final versions of boards
• Telemetry Diagram

• Remote, On Site in February?
• Can do hand soldering, will need equipment

Nita
(Co-op)

• Onboarding
• Acquiring Samples
• Task force for diagram making

• Remote
• Can visit on some weekends, cannot take home equipment (moving)

Liam
(Co-op)

• Onboarding
• BOM Consolidation
• ASC BMS VDR

• Remote
• Probably won’t be in Waterloo, also does not have equipment

Kristen
(Co-op)

• Harnesses?

• On Site
• Grunt work (smile) that requires limited hardware knowledge

...

• Other On SIte Members: Janvi, Ricky L, Odianosen, Vinai, Wyatt

Onboarding

  • Not running hardware tutorials from previous terms

  • Current onboarding content covers board design but we should create resources for on-site work (videos = recordings on Zoom + PPTs)

    1. Assembly - Aashmika

    2. Reflow - James

    3. How to use equipment (testing, soldering, etc.) - Liam

    4. Troubleshooting - Nita

    5. Harnessing

      1. Pool resources in a deck + go through video,

    6. Testing Firmware (using babydriver, etc.)

    7. Tour of entire bay → ping core channel (organize a video → Kristen)

      1. Safety in the workspace

Test Plans

  • More extensive test plans?

    • James to possibly revisit precharge

Tasks for Off-site Members

  • Mockup Diagram task force

  • Onboarding material?

    • For returning members: Component investigations + specs (what they do, what they provide in a circuit, how to find one that fits project requirements) - to help new members, and help documentation

  • Investigations

    • A365 packaging tool

  • Library Management

    • Figure out how to get rid of duplicates and know which components get updated

  • Research tasks…

    • Not priority for new members since we are on critical path

Expectations for Next Term

  • Join On-Site weekly standups to get a better grasp of overall elec progress, improve knowledge
